WHO ARE WE?

About Niris

The Niris project was initiated in 2020 with the clear objective of seeking sustainable solutions to ecological and humanitarian challenges. Subsequently, the association was officially established in October 2021 in France.

In each of our actions we try to promote the following values:

TRANSPARENCY
AUTHENTICITY
HONESTY
HUMANITY

Our mission

The mission of the Niris association is to provide humanitarian and ecological assistance while enhancing the living conditions of the Malagasy population, particularly those who are marginalized, through the development of technological innovations.

Our vision

We strive to become a leading association addressing persistent challenges in Madagascar.
Through this approach, we aim to significantly enhance the quality of life for the population.

Our history

Established in 2021, the Niris association was officially founded by Daniel Sautot, who possessed a deep passion for Madagascar and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of the Malagasy people.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Our first cause

We have undertaken the mission of addressing the long-standing drought issue that has afflicted the southern region of Madagascar for over a decade.

To accomplish this, we have established a seawater desalination unit powered solely by solar energy to provide access to drinking water.

The prototype has been successfully installed in a village in southern Madagascar and is fully operational. The initial desalination unit in place has the capacity to produce up to 250 liters per day.

WHAT SOLUTIONS EXIST?

Various solutions exist to address the issue of drought, including geoengineering techniques to stimulate cloud formation, well and borehole installations to tap into groundwater reserves, regional water transfer projects to distribute water from rivers to arid areas, and desalination methods to convert seawater into freshwater.

THE BENEFITS OF DESALINATION

Desalination offers several advantages, including abundant water supply and project scalability. The project can be replicated while ensuring environmental sustainability. Another benefit is the preservation of scarce freshwater resources found in the land
