Association Niris
Since 2020

The Niris association has successfully implemented its inaugural scientific initiative to assist the population in southern Madagascar. Niris has developed a project focused on seawater desalination, targeting the drought-stricken region of Ambovombe-Erada. The primary objective is to provide free access to safe drinking water for the local community

About Niris

Niris is a humanitarian association that was legally established in October 2021 in France. However, our journey of studying and researching the concept of the first Niris project began in 2020. Our initial aim was to find sustainable solutions to ecological and humanitarian challenges. Witnessing the dire situation of drought and famine in the South of Madagascar, we conceived the idea of implementing a seawater desalination project to assist the local population.

We have several upcoming projects planned to aid the most underprivileged communities in creating a better world. Stay updated with our latest news by visiting our website at https://niris.fr/

For the past 10 years, the Southern region of Madagascar has been plagued by severe drought. After a year of extensive research on available solutions, we embarked on developing a 100% energy-autonomous system to address the water crisis sustainably. With the implementation of a new project management approach in construction, we successfully completed the prototype production and optimized its efficiency within four months.

Currently, two seawater desalination units have been installed in Erada, a rural commune in the Androy region severely affected by prolonged drought. Independent laboratory tests and analysis have confirmed the potability of the water, with each device capable of producing up to 500 liters of drinking water per day.

These desalination units ensure continuous access to free drinking water for the local population as they operate independently of electrical energy. Through the process of transforming seawater into distilled water and incorporating essential elements, the devices also contribute to long-term support in agriculture and combating famine.

During the installation of this project, Daniel Sautot, President of the Niris association and Scientific Director of the project, expressed, “This project has shown me that in the face of impending challenges, we are all capable of taking action, each within our own capacity!”

The rural municipality of Erada is home to 10,354 residents, and the current devices in place are insufficient to meet the needs of the entire population. We appeal for donations and sponsorships to aid us in advancing this cause. For more information, please visit our website at https://niris.fr/
